Types of Cataract
Cataracts are classified based on their location within the lens:
1. Nuclear Cataract: Forms in the central nucleus; often associated with yellowing or browning (brunescence).

2. Cortical Cataract: Develops in the outer layer (cortex); appears as wedge-shaped or spoke-like opacities

3. Subcapsular Cataract: Forms at the back of the lens near the capsule; strongly
associated with steroid use and diabetes.

4. Polar Cataract: Small “dots” or opacities at the anterior or posterior poles of the lens, often congenital.

5. Lamellar Cataract:Opacities that affect specific concentric layers of the lens.
